How Much Wire Do I Need?

Because no two layouts are the same we can only provide you with a pretty good idea of how much wire you will need for the area that you would like to enclose.

A good way to estimate the amount of wire that you need a bit more closely is to walk around the intended boundary wire path and count your steps then multiply the number of steps by three.  Take that number and add 2 times the distance from the edge of your boundary to where you are going to install your transmitter.  This will give you a good idea of how much wire

For example, if you walked around the area that you wanted to enclose and it took you 250 steps, multiplied by 3 is 750.  Then add to that 2 times the distance from the edge of the boundary to the transmitter, lets say that is 35 feet, multiplied by 2 is 70 feet.  So in total you will need about 820 feet.

Wire comes in rolls of 500’ or 1000′ so you would order 1000’ of wire for your installation. Below is also some general guidelines as to how much wire you will need based on the size of the area you want to enclose.
